FATV helped Los Angeles Harbor College improve student understanding of the Appeal Process.

Location Wilmington, CA
School Type Community College
Enrollment 10,115
Started FATV 2009

Dilemma:

While the Financial Aid Office had their SAP Appeal Instructions available for download from their website, students were still not submitting everything needed to complete appeal packet. More importantly, students also did not fully understand all components of the SAP Policy and how that affected their financial aid eligibility.

GetSAP Results:

In their first 6 months, over 700 interactive sessions were completed by students. Based on pre and post test results, these students increased their knowledge of SAP policies and the appeal process by 20%. The Financial Aid Office is now receiving more complete appeals upon students' first submission demonstrating that students are aware of all components they must satisfy to regain their financial aid eligibility.

FATV worked directly with me and my staff to review the comprehension questions and determine how we could best present the material to assist our students.

FATV staff used their experience with other clients to provide us with ideas that we did not think of ourselves and provide our students with the best user and education experience possible.

We now have a new avenue in the form of an interactive, online counseling sessions, in addition to our printed materials, that will boost our student's comprehension of our SAP policy and appeal process.
